A Ferroelectric Iron(II) Spin Crossover Material

A dual-function material in which ferroelectricity and spin crossover coexist in the same temperature range has been obtained. Our synthetic strategy allows the construction of acentric crystal structures in a predictable way and is based on the high directionality of hydrogen bonds. The well-known iron(II) spin crossover complex [Fe(bpp)₂]²+ (bpp = 2,6-bis(pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine), a four-fold noncentrosymmetric H-bond donor, was combined with a disymmetric H-bond acceptor such as the isonicotinate (isonic) anion to afford [Fe(bpp)₂](isonic)₂·2H₂O. 2D and 3D bimetallic oxalate-based ferromagnets prepared by insertion of different FeIII spin crossover complexes

The syntheses, structures and magnetic properties of the compounds of formula [Fe(III)(5-NO(2)sal(2)-trien)][Mn(II)Cr(III)(ox)(3)]·CH(3)NO(2).0.5H(2)O (1) and [Fe(III)(5-CH(3)Osal(2)-trien)][Mn(II)Cr(III)(ox)(3)] (2) are reported. The structure of 1, that crystallizes in the P2(1) chiral space group, presents a 2D honeycomb anionic layer formed by Mn(II) and Cr(III) ions linked through oxalate ligands and a cationic layer of [Fe(III)(5-NO(2)sal(2)-trien)](+) complexes intercalated between the 2D oxalate network. High-pressure phase ofLaPO4studied by x-ray diffraction and second harmonic generation

The pressure-induced phase transition of monazite-type ${\mathrm{LaPO}}_{4}$ at $\ensuremath{\approx}26$ GPa is studied by single-crystal x-ray diffraction and second harmonic generation (SHG) up to 31 GPa. The structure of the postmonazite phase of ${\mathrm{LaPO}}_{4}$ has been obtained and it is shown that it corresponds to a post-barite-type structure with an acentric space group $P{2}_{1}{2}_{1}{2}_{1}$. A strong increase of the SHG signal at the transition confirms that the high-pressure polymorph is noncentrosymmetric. IM-17: a new zeolitic material, synthesis and structure elucidation from electron diffraction ADT data and Rietveld analysis

International audience; The synthesis and the structure of IM-17, a new germanosilicate with a novel zeolitic topology, prepared hydrothermally with decamethonium as the organic structure directing agent, are reported. The structure of calcined and partially rehydrated IM-17 of chemical formula per unit cell |(H2O)14.4|[Si136.50Ge39.50O352] was solved ab initio using electron diffraction ADT data in the acentric Amm2 (setting Cm2m) space group and refined by the Rietveld method. This new zeolite framework type contains a 3D pore system made of intersecting 12, 10 and 8-ring channels.
